Artist Biography: Ingrid Russell

"I am interested in simple universal themes that everyone can relate to," the artist
Ingrid Russell explains, "the irrepressible energy of nature."
This love for the awesome power of the open expanses of sky and water, as well as the surreal
starkness of the desert or the lushness of tropical climes, is visible in the works of Russell.
Her paintings are alive with the vivid colors of natural settings and luminous with the light of
the Mediterranean.
There is a flavor of the renaissance in many of Russell's multi-paneled pieces, evoking a
Palladian architectural symmetry alongside intricate Moorish patterned borders, which brings to
mind the ancient splendors of Persia, India, and Asia Minor.
